Having an entire week away from work did wonders for me. I haven't taken that many consecutive days off from working since I was a teacher. I had a nice dinner out with Jen and Susan, got together with several friends and their families, watched a couple of movies with my friend Allan, caught up with my friend Mark, stayed in bed reading books my brother gave me for Christmas... basically took it easy, happily wasted a lot of time, and enjoyed myself. I spent New Year's Eve with Joe and Susan. The weather was gross so we decided to have a low-key evening with a dinner at Fritti and then headed back to their house to hang out.
I truly feel 2007 is going to be a great year. My new house will be completed, I will be taking a cool trip, my nephews just keep getting cuter and more fun to be around, and I feel like I am finally ready to leave behind the sadness from my divorce that was a black cloud over my head throughout the past year. 2006 was a necessary year; I needed that time to take stock, evaluate, contemplate, and wait, wait, wait on time to pass. I am glad it is over, though. I thought it was so appropriate that the last day of 2006 was rainy, gross, and dark... and then yesterday, the first day of the new year, was sunny, warm, and beautiful.
